Wakefield District Housing

Supporting staff recruitment and retention with refreshed interior design and office fit-out

Background

After the pandemic, a leading housing provider was looking for ways to encourage staff to return to work in the office.

The team began working with Richardsons to redesign its 30,000 sq ft head office (which is spread across two buildings with three floors each), creating a modern workspace that would help to attract and engage current and new employees.

The brief

Our brief was to provide full interior design and office fit-out services for the company’s Wakefield head office, including office furniture, partitions, acoustic solutions, wall treatments and carpet design.

The overall aim was to create an engaging and productive space that encouraged staff back into the office and allowed colleagues to collaborate seamlessly within and across departments.

Our approach

After surveying each floor, we produced and fine-tuned plans in collaboration with the Wakefield office team. We focused on creating layouts which would allow departments to collaborate more efficiently with open-plan offices and more meeting spaces.

We combined brand-new office furniture with repurposed legacy items to reduce the financial and environmental cost of the Wakefield-based office fit-out without sacrificing interior design.

The result

The office fit-out has transformed this Wakefield head office into a hub of engagement and productivity.

Conference suite

A new 150-person conference suite allows the client to host events without relying on expensive third-party facilities.

Ergonomic workstations

Sit/stand desks and fully adjustable office chairs create comfortable and accessible workstations throughout the space.

Comfortable meeting rooms

An increased number of meeting rooms carefully designed to promote collaboration help to bring teams together.

Privacy pods

Soundproof privacy pods facilitate distraction-free team meetings and video calls.

The impact

The modern space and ergonomic office furniture promote a collaborative working environment that’s enjoyed by staff and visitors alike.

Due to the success of the initial office fit-out project, Richardsons is continuing work with this Wakefield-based client to transform additional office buildings across the company to roll out the benefits of new and improved spaces.
